Starcraft (Brood War) on Android with full touch controls.
Great, now that I have your undivided attention, let me explain. So, you, like most reasonable human beings, think playing Starcraft on a tablet would be pretty awesome. It's been tried before, but usually the result is a messy, laggy ROM on an N64 emulator that requires you to control a cursor with a digital joystick. And as we all know, that's basically like poking yourself in the eye with a hot fork. It sucks.
Enter Winulator. Right now, Winulator is still a pretty young app with a lot of potential, but what it does is really quite fascinating. Winulator is not an emulator. Not really, anyways. Winulator utilizes a few select Windows APIs, but otherwise runs ARM-friendly code straight from your device's onboard storage. But how in the heck can you make Starcraft - an x86 Windows game - ARM/Android-friendly?
This is where the magic happens. The developer of Winulator has developed a tool called WCH, the Windows Converter Helper. This tool takes your Windows/x86-ready EXE and DLL files from a particular program and converts the underlying machine code into an ARM-readable format. If you're like me (eg, not a programmer), this basically sounds like witchcraft. But it's witchcraft that works. Take a look at the video below.
He is controlling the entire game by touch - running at full speed. Holy crap. As I said previously, other attempts to port Starcraft have usually relied on messy cursor implementations and other convoluted nonsense. Not this one. You can even configure on-screen widgets that map to virtual keyboard keys or mouse actions, because what's Starcraft without hotkeys?
Now, the bad news: Winulator isn't compatible with Starcraft: Brood War yet. It's a work in progress (each game requires specialized tweaking in order to work). But right now it's compatible with Caesar III, one of my personal favorites, so you can get your 90's strategy fix on that way. Winulator comes in both a free and paid version (there is no practical difference between the two, the paid is really just a donate version for now), and they're on the Play Store.
If you want to play Caesar III (available DRM-free through legitimate channels), you'll need to check out the instructions (it's not a one-click process, but it's worth the result).

Microsoft's partnership with bookseller Barnes & Noble is bearing fruit, as some of the e-reader technology used in the new Nook HD and HD+ slates will make its way to Windows 8 and a new reading app specifically designed for Windows 8, which is set to launch this month. Barnes & Noble and Microsoft announced their partnership back in April, with Microsoft investing $300 million for a 17.6 percent equity stake in the company.
Under the deal, Barnes & Noble will spin off its e-book and reader business into a new, yet-to-be-named subsidiary. Meanwhile, in addition to the $300 million investment, Microsoft also agreed to drop patent claims which it had previously filed against the company. The new subsidiary, called NewCo for now, must still pay license fees to Microsoft for the technologies covered by the patents at issue.
The Nook-branded e-reader app is designed for use on Windows 8 PCs and tablets, including Microsoft's own Surface tablet, which will arrive on Oct. 26 along with other Windows 8 systems from OEMs.
"The most visible thing [consumers] are going to see is a best in class reading application on Windows 8," Barnes & Noble CEO William Lynch told ABC News. "Some of the things we are doing with our reading technology - the rendering of books, catalogs, magazines - we are going to bring that to Windows 8 form factors and the operating system."
Lynch implied that the partnership with Microsoft will go beyond the reading app, which will launch in the next fortnight.
"We are talking to them [Microsoft] about a lot of things," Lynch told ABC News. "I talk to Steve [Ballmer] from time to time about things we might want to do together. We are the leaders in reading technology and rendering. We obviously have this huge corpus of content. So we are talking about how we can take the great Windows 8 experience and add value to it."
Lynch's comments came as his company introduced two new Nook models based on Android. With the Nook HD and HD+, Barnes & Noble aims to challenge Amazon's new Kindle Fire HD, while also providing affordable tablet alternatives to the iPad. When asked whether Barnes & Noble would consider making a Windows 8 tablet as well, Lynch said the company has nothing to announce. The CEO did note, however, that Barnes & Noble has done its share of innovative things in hardware, and its efforts have not gone unrecognized.
The Nook HD sports a 7-inch display with a 1440 x 900 resolution at 243 pixels per inch (ppi), the highest ever for a tablet of that size, according to Barnes & Noble. The tablet also offers 720p HD video playback and is 20 percent lighter than the Kindle Fire HD. It comes with a dual-core, 1.3GHz processor under the hood, and has a $199 price tag.
Meanwhile, the Nook HD+ comes with a $269 price tag, but sports a 9-inch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1280 at 256 ppi. The HD+ is also capable of Full HD video playback at 1080p, packs a dual-core chip clocked at 1.5GHz, and 1GB of RAM.
Apple's iPhone 5 is the sixth version of its ground-breaking smartphone. Key upgrades from previous generations include a bigger screen housed in a thinner shell. There's a much faster processor, improved camera optics, and better connectivity - majoring on high-speed 4G cellular data.
The iPhone 5 maintains the essential design of the 4 and 4S, with a bigger 4 inch touchscreen that has room for an extra row of icons. Significantly, this means it's the first iPhone with a 16 by 9 display, which makes it great for watching videos. See also Get started with the iPhone 5.
Existing apps will have to be redesigned for the new screen - in the meantime they will be displayed with black bars to fill in the spaces. Take a look at Samsung Galaxy S3 vs Apple iPhone 5 comparison review too.
The screen is taller, but not wider and feels completely natural to use: you don't have to stretch your thumb to reach things. Go to iPhone 5 vs iPhone 4S comparison review.
Viewing photos on the new screen shows off the extra saturation compared with the 4S, but as photos aren't taken at the same aspect ratio, there are more black borders. However, we like the new iOS 6 panorama mode where you sweep the phone round to automatically create a panoramic photo. See How to install iOS 6.
When browsing the web, you see a little more than you did with the iPhone 5's predecessors, with the new full-screen browsing mode adding even more room for web pages.
Despite being bigger, the new iPhone feels a lot thinner and lighter than the 4S. That's quite an achievement considering the improved specifications. Build quality is supreme - no other smartphone can touch it.
Buttons and switches are in the same positions, but underneath is the new, smaller Lightning dock connector and the headphone socket. The new connector is reversible, so you don't have to worry about which way round you insert the cable.
The SIM card slot is in the same position as before, but the iPhone takes a new nano-SIM so you can't just pop in a micro-SIM from an existing device.
The back panel now has small glass inserts, but is mainly aluminium, adding durability without extra bulk or weight.
iPhone 5 video review: Performance
Apple says the new A6 processor is up to twice as fast as the iPhone 4S. In our benchmarks we found this was true. The iPhone 5 scored 1650 points in Geekbench 2, compared to the 4S's score of 632. That's over 2.6 times faster.
When it comes to gaming, the iPhone 5 ran our Egypt HD test at 38fps, which is exactly twice the framerate of the 4S's 19fps.
Browsing the web is super speedy. When tested for JavaScript rendering speed, wef ound the iPhone 5 to again be around twice as fast – scoring 903ms in the SunSpider test, against 1891ms for an iPhone 4S.
In general use, the iPhone 5 feels incredibly snappy, opening apps and loading websites quicker than ever before.
Built-in storage is limited to 16, 32 or 64GB and - as before - you can't add more. In terms of connectivity, the iPhone 5 now has dual-band Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4. And as we mentioned, it's the first iPhone with 4G for faster mobile internet.
We haven't completed our battery life tests yet, but Apple is suggesting an improvement over even the long-lasting iPhone 4S.
iPhone 5 video review: Cameras
There's been no major update to the iPhone 5's rear camera. It still takes 8-megapixel photos and 1080p video. Photos look slightly better than those from the 4S, perhaps helped by the new sapphire crystal lens.
Sound recording is improved, though, thanks to three microphones, including one next to the rear camera.
From the front, the camera can now capture HD video, and it's now possible to make FaceTime calls over cellular 3G or 4G connections.
iPhone 5 video review: Software
There are plenty of other improvements to the interface, including more options when receiving calls, more streamlined email and reminders apps, and better integration with Facebook.
Google Maps have been replaced with Apple's own Maps app. It includes impressive 3D maps of several cities, but it lacks an equivalent of Google's Street View and there are some worrying inaccuracies which we hope will be sorted very soon.
iPhone 5 video review: Wrapup
This is the first iPhone to face strong competition from Android devices such as the popular Samsung Galaxy S III. Our tests so far suggest it already shows all the competition a very clean pair of heels in raw speed. And the iPhone 5 has build quality that can't currently be matched. The iPhone 5 is a very classy act.

Today Nokia introduced the Lumia 920 and the slightly lower-end Lumia 820, the company's first two phones running Microsoft's brand-new Window Phone 8 OS. These two phones are widely regarded as Microsoft's first and best chance to launch Windows Phone 8 in a convincing manner.
Remember that Microsoft abandoned Windows Phone 7.5 earlier this year, even as devices like the flagship Nokia Lumia 900 and the high-end HTC Titan II remained on sale, in an apparent recognition that it was going to have to step up its game the next time around. Windows Phone 8 introduces a host of improvements, such as a shared kernel with the Windows 8 desktop OS, resizable live tiles on the home screen, and support for multi-core processors and 1080p video recording, among other features.
We got to spend some time with several Lumia 920s and 820s this morning. Much like what happened at the Microsoft Surface tablet event a few months ago, access to devices was pretty restricted. In addition to the lack of any pricing, release dates, or carriers, we also weren't allowed to see any screens past what Nokia and Microsoft wanted to show us today.
That makes at least some sense, since there's likely going to be a bigger Microsoft event at the end of October introducing both Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 in much more detail as they become available to the general public. Still, it's pretty disappointing, as it's tough to lust after a slab cell phone, much less "switch to Lumia," as Nokia telegraphed to us loudly today, without knowing a lot of these things up front. Here's hoping Microsoft and Nokia can figure out how to overcome that with consumers somehow.

Lumia Design, Screen, and Camera
Aside from that, the Lumia 920 looks and feels great. The yellow model I held was entirely glossy polycarbonate with the exception of the glass screen, though the yellow shouldn't show any fingerprints. A slate gray one I checked out later had a matte finish, so it looks like there's more to it than just the color shade. The Lumia 820, meanwhile, is ever so slightly smaller, and looked just as sharp and vibrant in bright red. Both devices feel solid and well crafted. No one will confuse these things with an iPhone.
The Lumia 920's 4.5-inch IPS WXGA screen looked beautiful and extremely colorful, but not particularly bright; hopefully it was just the weird lighting in the demo room I was in. Scrolling definitely seemed smooth—Nokia says its PureMotion HD+ screen has its own RAM, and buffers pixels to display accordingly, in an effort to eliminate any last traces of motion blur even when scrolling through webpage text. But we'll need to do back-to-back comparisons with a Samsung Galaxy S III and an iPhone 4S to really see what Nokia is talking about here.
Speaking of which, Nokia spent almost the entire event talking up the PureView camera, which does look to be a killer feature for the Lumia 920. It's 8.7 megapixels, but that doesn't matter at all. Instead, we were treated to a long series of demos showing off features like its all-new object image stabilization, which lets the Lumia 920 keep its shutter open ever so slightly longer without adding excess blur to the photo. The entire lens assembly floats on a series of tiny springs inside the device. That also benefits HD video recording, which Nokia compared to those expensive rigs you'll find on a movie set that allow for stable movement tracking.
GPS, Augmented Reality, and Wireless Charging
O n the GPS front, Nokia has had plenty of experience with location-based services, and appears to be delivering a cohesive, full GPS navigation experience that rivals and in some ways surpasses what Google offers, even in Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The demo Lumia 920 popped up public transit schedules for NYC right down to individual city bus arrival times, as well as step-by-step directions that one-upped anything I've seen on Google Maps or on a portable navigation device. But again, I wasn't allowed to actually touch it and run my own searches.
The best part here, though, may be City Lens, the Lumia 920's augmented reality feature. Point the phone at a city block outside, and it will overlay the names of restaurants, cafes, and shops on the building surfaces themselves. You can tap on each one and it will display additional info. Nokia Maps also gets the same feature, which is much like what Mercedes has been showing off at recent auto shows (except on the windshield as you drive, rather than on the phone display).
One of the more impressive aspects of the Lumia 920 and 820 launch were the companion accessories. Thanks to the new wireless charging feature, the Lumia 920 will arrive with a cadre of Nokia and third-party gadgets. The most notable is the JBL Power Up, a wireless speaker dock roughly 12 inches long, which pairs and unpairs instantly with any Lumia 920 or 820 via NFC and then transmits music wirelessly over Bluetooth. You can also charge either phone just by sitting it on top of the box. This brings back the original conveniences of an iPod dock—charging and instant music—while preserving wireless listening from your main cell phone, and one that doesn't have to be an Apple product. It's a big selling point for the Lumia and Windows Phone 8.
Sound quality-wise, in the extremely noisy demo room, I can say Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" sounded clear and full through the JBL Power Up, with decent bass punch given the unit's small size. (Hey, it was the Microsoft rep's choice, not mine.) And I like the idea of going to a friend's house and saying, hey, let's listen to this phone instead of that one, and being able to pair it with a small wave over the top of the dock.
Overall, the Lumia 920 and 820 both look to be really sharp pieces of hardware. It's also great to see that Windows Phone 8 is real and running, even if we couldn't really get at it yet. But without pricing, release dates, or carrier support—three of the absolute biggest factors in choosing a phone—it's tough to make any kind of judgment. The Android market is pretty mature now, but Nokia and Microsoft are probably waiting to see what happens with the iPhone 5 launch before making final calls on those things. Stay tuned for more.

Take a view into introducing day :
Apple’s iPhone 5 is not being released and it seems that iPhone 5 is being delayed and replaced with the release of iPhone 4S as you all people should know by now. We don't know the final shape of iPhone 5 but designers have created some really cool and nice looking concepts and designs of iPhone 5
But most of the web designers are already busy in estimating the design. We found the best and most interesting looking images and we have selected to share with our audience. So have a look at what the internet community thinks iPhone 5 will be like…
